To Give is to Receive
We’ve all heard how the rich get richer and how you have to have money to make money. I challenge that way of thinking.
There have been so many times in my life when I have been stingy with my money, not giving to charity or helping anyone else who might have less than I do. And things go bad.
I’m not saying it always happens. But a lot of times – yes. I’m sailing along, finally getting caught up on some debts, having some extra money to throw away on things I don’t need and BAM! the car breaks down. The roof starts leaking. The dog gets sick.
I walk past the guy ringing the bell at Christmas time out in front of Fred Meyer without looking at him or putting even a dollar in the big red pot. I buy my junk food and maybe a few vegetables, get back in my car and the “check engine” light comes on.
Good Things Will Happen
But on those days when I give away that money I was going to spend on a pizza to someone offering to sweep my driveway because they’re homeless and just want a few bucks, well, good things happen. I get a check in the mail I wasn’t expecting. Someone gives me an extra $10 tip.
Finding a charity you believe in and would like to donate to is a very worthy way to give away a little of what you have received through your online business.
“Wait,” you say. “I haven’t made any money online yet!”
Okay, everyone has at least $5 they can afford to give up. Maybe you were going to spend it on that latte you get every day. Instead, put it in that Humane Society can on the counter in the grocery store. Or go to church some Sunday and put it in the offering plate.
The Possibilities are Endless
See what happens. I think the trick though, is to NOT expect anything wonderful to happen. Just do it. Just decide. “I’m going to give away $5 today.”
Who knows? You might get your first subscriber to your list. Or you might make that first sale online.
Or you might just get that good feeling deep down that lets you know the universe is smiling on you.
keep giving a portion of it away and it will continue to come back to you in abundance.
